Red alert! Battle stations! We are back! Not only is rugby back in this part of the world but we start with the interpro’s, we start with the biggest interpro. Leinster v Munster kicks off on Saturday at 19:35.
I sit in my office chair slightly emotional. The club season is nearly over. The blue jersey is in need of its annual wash and to be put away for a few months in exchange for the retro green jersey. It has been a season of ups and downs for Leinster, so how will they … More Leinster v Munster – the psychological battle.
Things have been quiet in TCP Towers here in Bray, County Wicklow and the reason for that is because of the thing we love the most. I am not talking about Nutella, Guinness and or Pink Salt Indian takeaway (well worth a try if you are in the borough or its surrounding environs). It is … More Leinster search for their mojo while Glasgow arrive searching for a scalp.
What a weekend for the provinces, no one saw that weekend coming. All 4 provinces showed up and deserved the wins they got. Some had tougher opposition than others but the end results showed the Irish dominance on the club stage.
Don’t forget to listen to The Couch Pundit Podcast So we sit here on the Monday morning after the last round of pre-European inter provincial games. The usual partial reviews of the game are flying around social media so I was going to try and review the proceedings with the blue shirt in the washing machine.
Don’t forget to listen to The Couch Pundit Podcast The massive weekend of sport kicks off at 6pm on Saturday, in the Aviva stadium where Leinster welcome Munster to their home away from home for the last of the first leg of the interprovincial series of the season. Ulster and Connacht play on Friday which is … More Leinster v Munster, who needs it more?
The Couch Pundit Podcast The first marker of the Irish rugby season took place last weekend. The first round of the historical inter-provincial games took place in the Sportsground and in Thomond Park. Leinster packed the bus and headed to the Connacht cauldron and Ulster hopped the train to Limerick to try and keep their … More The interpros, doom, gloom and rosy gardens. The Irish provinces lay down a marker.
The Couch Pundit Podcast With the Guinness Pro 14 still a baby in terms of the season it has already thrown up some very unexpected results and last weekend was no different. It is time for a look around the provinces.
Don’t forget to listen to The Couch Pundit Podcast Usually the opening few weeks of the season is the rugby equivalent of what we do when we get in the bath. We dip our toes, slowly test the temperature of the water with our hanging bottoms before diving in. I was expecting a similar approach from … More Leinster, week 2. It’s business time!
With that a long summer of roundball is over. A long summer of diving, bad sportsmanship and an insane amount of coverage is over and we get our game back. A game of combat, of skill and of proper sportsmanship (or is I sports-personship). Rugby is back!
Brought to you by The Couch Pundit Podcast – ITunes Stitcher Spotify So here we go, after picking up the big trophy last weekend against a massively impressive Racing team, Leinster welcome the old enemy back to their home for the semi-final of the Guinness pro14 competition.
Brought to you by The Couch Pundit Podcast An impromptu trip to the RDS stemmed the flow of tears of a lack of rugby last weekend. A last minute ticket offer to play the other top team in the conference (and the bogey team of Irish provinces last year) was too much to resist.
Brought to you by The Couch Pundit Podcast So coming into the European Champions Cup games there wasn’t a lot of news expected. The injury lists of the provinces has been widely known and hasn’t changed over the last days, the teams where all up against top opposition so it was expected to be quiet until … More Drug cheats, red jersey pride and social media.
Brought to you by The Couch Pundit Podcast Another weekend brings us to the end of the interprovincial matches of the Christmas New Year block before the teams head back into Europe. It is the second showing of where the Irish teams stack up against each other.
Brought to you by The Couch Pundit Podcast And so the festive season is over, the selection boxes have been emptied, turkeys feel safe again and the interprovincial derby’s are over for a few months. Going into the fixtures there appeared to be a big gap between Leinster and the rest. That appears to have … More The Christmas round up, mid season review and new faces
The Couch Pundit Podcast And so here we go. The turkey has been eaten, the Pavlova has been demolished and (hopefully) the annual family argument has been avoided through conversation and an unhealthy consumption of alcohol. So now, it is time for me to start an argument and offend. As always, details below for you … More Munster v Leinster – a review
